Tui Na
Tui na is one of the four main branches of traditional Chinese medicine along with herbal medicine, acupuncture and qigong. Dating back thousands of years, tui na is considered to be the foundation of many forms of contemporary manipulative therapies. Like acupuncture and herbal medicine, tui na has been systematized and refined over many generations.
Tui na translates as push (tui) and grasp (na). It uses an extensive variety of rhythmic techniques and manipulations along the course of meridians, acupuncture points, muscles, and joints. Tui na is task focused: it concentrates on specific areas of the body and employs various protocols to address injuries and syndromes.
Tui na treatment helps restore correct anatomical musculo-skeletal relationships, stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation, treat soft tissue injuries, and break down scar tissue. From an eastern perspective tui na regulates the organs, directs the flow of qi and blood, and clears pathogenic cold and damp from the meridians. It is an integral part of all treatment at Fix Me as it is often integrated with acupuncture.
